The writing from this show is very different than it was in the 90's. The 90's show still had a lot of the interpersonal drama but it was basically your standard Saturday morning cartoons. The writing wasn't as refined, mature, or quite as dramatic as it is in this show. They never had anything like episode 5 in the old show.

Even as a 41 year old guy, I always feel my heart drop and can't speak right after Primes' death. My mom got me Optimus in 1989 but Sparklebot, which I got in 1988 btw, still sparks to this very day. Insecticon I think.

Nightcrawler has always been one of my favorite characters because how good of a person he is. One of my favorite interactions was between him and Logan. When Logan asked Kurt what did he think was going to happen to him after he finally died. Kurt responded essentially "when you wake up in the next life come find me. I'll be waiting radiant and with open arms."

To understand what’s going on an episode seven more go back to the original series and watch the Phoenix Saga and the dark Phoenix Saga and the very last episode of the old series. That’ll give you perspective quite a bit actually.

Nah, the old show on Fox Kids was nowhere near this deep. Lots of those old episodes don't hold up that well because they're written so tame and watered down for a kid audience. Plus, the animation sucks compared to this.

I remember when I was growing up _no one_ I knew seemed to like Gambit, leaving me to be the odd-one-out for the most part. Now it seems like everyone and their mother supposedly liked him back in the day. Same with my boy Donatello. Come to think of it, most of the characters I liked used some kind of bo staff as a weapon to thwack people with.... I don't know what the psychology behind that is, but I'm sure there's something Sigmund Freud would have to say about it.

This show is so much better than it should be allowed to be. I am a gross X-Men fan. I grew up on this and the trading cards and so forth. I fully expected them to rekindle the feel and nostalgia of the original series but I did not expect them to put quality cinematics into this. I am very happy this show came along. I had being feeling like not much was really fresh for awhile now and this totally hit the spot.

I am so impressed with the writing. Every episode has at least 3 or 4 banger lines

I binge-watched the original show to refresh my memory before watching this and although it did touched deep topics it was still a kids show. The genius of x-men 97 is that they understood their audience are adults now, and deliver a show for those who watched this as kids

No need to check if the writing of the old show was the same dude. It was not. The old show was a cartoon made for children. This version is updated for the adults that watched this as kids., the writing is much better and more mature now. If you watch the old show expecting this quality you will be disappointed. Don't do it to yourself.
